« on: Monday 19 December 11 11:27 GMT (UK) »
Hi
If anyone has a transcript of the Lenham Register could you please have a look to see if a Joseph Martin married or had bands read there in about 1850 as he seems to have married a Caroline from Lenham.
Many Thanks

Lenham marriages are included on the Mid Kent Marriage Index http://www.woodchurchancestry.org.uk/midkentmarriages/

What about Joseph MARTIN (widower) m Caroline Hope TUFF at Ashford 1849?

;D Obviously difficult to read, because on the transcripts I have it says:
1827 30th Dec
Caroline Hope, dau of William & Ann FAFF? or ROLF?
Note: Cordwainer

1830 18th July
Jesse Hope son of William & Ann R/G?ULF?
Note:Cordwainer

Only one with the surname TUFF
1825 22nd May
William Hope son of William & Ann
Note: Cordwainer.

It must surely be the same family.

Wish I had seen this earlier, I was down in Lenham last Tuesday visiting my Aunt and paying respects to my family in St Marys church yard.

Hi
The name seems to be Tuff as there is a marriage listed on the mid Kent index for William Tuff & Ann Hope on 23/10/1824.
I have also managed to find them in the 1841 census living in Ashford together with their children William, Caroline,Jesse and Joseph, Williams profession is given as a Shoemaker.
So the marriage in 1849 does indeed seem to be the one I was looking for.
Thanks for the Help
