Revd Ernest Arthur INGHAM - Willoughby Waterleys
« on: Monday 19 December 11 14:00 GMT (UK) »
The Reverend Ernest Arthur INGHAM was Rector of St Mary's Church, Willoughby Waterleys and All Saint's Church, Peatling Magna from 1922 to his death in January 1940.

Can anyone tell me whether he and his wife Sarah were buried in Willoughby Waterleys and whether there is a Gravestone?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Stephen Andrews

Many thanks Diddy, I already knew of the Thiepval Monument for their son. It was more his parent's I was interested in.

THanks anyway,

Stephen

The Ingham family grave is in Overleigh Cemetery Chester. I discovered it this morning when looking for other graves. I have no idea why it is located in Chester. the grave also has an inscription to their grandson Lawrence. I have taken some photographs of the grave when I was looking for graves with WW1 references.

Thanks John, apologies for the rather late response, but have not been on RootsChat for years until today. The Ingham family came from Chester, so no great surprise they were buried there. I wondered at one point whether because he died at Willoughby Waterleys whilst still their Parish Priest, that he would have been buried there. However, other information I have shows that his relationship with his parishioners appear to have been rather strained. I see now that the Find a Grave site has photos of the grave at Overleigh.

Hello
The Rev Ernest Arthur Ingham, who was rector simultaneously at Willoughby Waterleys
and Peatling Magna, is my great grandfather. As you have found, he was buried at Chester.
I have a letter from Sarah, his widow, to my grandmother dated Dec 1951 from Southport
in which she says she will be 82 in Feb and continues to be in good health
I am interested in tracking down where my grandmother (his third daughter) Dorothy Elizabeth
might have been born.
