George Henry GREENE died 1877 Albury

I am trying to find out whether this is my direct ancestor.   This death is recorded at NSW BDM's with parents Robert and Ellen.  Through rootschat I have found his grave at Jindera Cemetery near Albury.   I have tried Trove but no luck and also Ryerson.

What makes this George Henry Greene d. 1877, parents Robert and Ellen, your possible direct ancestor?

What information about him would confirm that he is your ancestor....just childrens names or also spouse, birth place?

If you are looking for your direct ancestor, whose parent are you looking him to be?

I only have one child that I know off and that is my direct ancestor Roseanna born 1841-43 The Grange South Australia (I have this from a certificate for one of her children).   She had children in the Albury area also so that is why I am extremely interested in this death.

Still a bit confused about what you are seeking but here goes anyway.

Was Roseanna also a GREENE? How might she be related to George?

NSW BDM has the following births for George H and Ellen E GREENE -
Nellie E C 1871 and Georgina 1874 both registered at Albury. A death also shown with these parents was George C C 1884 in Sydney.

The marriage for George Henry and Ellen Elizabeth could be 26 July 1870 Hobart with her surname as CRAWFORD.
There is a birth registered only as GREENE in Victoria in 1878 #13051 and a William P C in Grenfell, NSW in 1884.

Thankyou for looking this up for me and apologies if I am confusing you.  Roseanna was a Green or Greene and I am looking for her father George Henry Greene.  What I am attempting to do is eliminate the different George H Greene's who died in NSW.  A difficult task but the Albury dc has been ordered so that will tell me if this is him or not.

Hi Pittsy,

I found your query on another site where you mention Roseanna's mother with the same first name. I found a marriage for a George GREEN to Rose Anna BELL 19 December 1831 at Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northumberland. That was certainly a mining area so could be worth checking into further.

On further checking of the 1851 census I found the family still in Newcastle so not the correct parents.

This is quite possible you know.  This could be why I could never find anything about him.  DC states his name as George Green Solicitor and her mother's name as Roseanna surname unknown (don't you love this).  It also states she was born in Adelaide SA but often relatives are wrong or things have been kept from them.    What if all the time she was born in UK and was ?convict or immigrant.  Sounds awfully young though and someone would have had to give her permission to marry.  MC has her father's name as George Henry.  Is it possible to send through the census you found - worth checking I think.  Pittsy
