William Okell B 1819 Knutsford - IOM Brewery Okells
« on: Sunday 25 December 11 20:21 GMT (UK) »
Helo,
I have already tried the IOM forum and managed to glean some info there.

I am tracing a friends Family Tree and he believes he is related to the William Okell who started Okells Brewery in the IOM about 1850.  I believe this man was born 1819 in Knutsford.  I have traced my friends Okell line to farmers of Kingsley; Thomas Okell B Frodsham 1825-1874.  I was wondering if anyone has done either family tree and may be able to assist me further.

Regards and Merry Xmas.

There is a private tree on ancestry for a Dr. William Okell born 1819 in Knutsford, Cheshire
It says there are 5 attached records and 5 sources for him but unfortunately I can't take it further.

I have sent you a pm.

Hi CaroleW,

I am aware of the Manx Library info but my friend is as yet unwilling to shed out any £££, so am seeimg if I can obtain any info by other means.  I did explain to him that as someone has obviously done the research already, that it would save some time by buying this (about £!5).

Thanks anyway.

Paul.

I have traced my friends Okell line to farmers of Kingsley; Thomas Okell B Frodsham 1825-1874.

It doesn't help with your search, but interestingly Thomas Okell, Farmer was an executor of the wills of my 2 x g.grandparents Peter and Elizabeth Pemberton.  Peter died in 1860 and Elizabeth in 1869, both in Kingsley.

As I had a headmistress, in the 1950s,  called Miss Okell in a school only a few miles from Kingsley, I've always thought that she might have been an ancestor of the Kingsley Okells.  If so, I hope the Kingsley Okells were better natured than my headmistress.  ::)
