Sophia or Sophie CAMPBELL- Completed thanks!
« on: Tuesday 27 December 11 11:30 GMT (UK) »
Kia Ora
Greetings from New Zealand

Sophie CAMPBELL born about 1838 married Samuel BOYLE possibly in Co Down . There is no marriage registered in New Zealand.

They had 8 children before her death in 1922.

In 1892 and 1893  Sophia inserted 3 death notices in local papers .

The first read;
CAMPBELL Sept 26 1892 at his residence Sandy Row Bangor County Down Ireland, Captain James CAMPBELL aged 81. Uncle of Mrs Samuel Boyle Allenton House Ashburton.

The second read;
WEST 26 Sept 1892 at Westvale Quoile Downpatrick Ireland, Fanny wife of Thomas West. Aunt of Mrs Samuel Boyle Allenton House Ashburton.

The third read:
CAMPBELL At London April 22 1893 William Campbell ( for many years tutor to the King of Saxony's family) aged 75. Cousin of Mrs Samuel Boyle, Grove Park Tinwald.

Does the above info ring any bells with anyone?
Can anyone help with Baptisms of Samuel, Sophia or their Marriage?

Very grateful for any advice /help.
TIA
Dale

CAMPBELL Sept 26 1892 at his residence Sandy Row Bangor County Down Ireland, Captain James CAMPBELL aged 81. Uncle of Mrs Samuel Boyle Allenton House Ashburton.
"The Will of James Campbell late of Sandy Row Bangor County Down Retired Master Mariner who died 26 September 1892 at same place was proved at Belfast by Edward Johnston of 3 Donegall-street Belfast Stationer and Samuel Campbell of Belvoir-terrace Bangor Book-keeper the Executors." Will dated 12 May 1891 and mentions several bequests. See www.proni.gov.uk

Also from PRONI: "The Will of John Campbell late of Bangor County Down Master Mariner deceased who died 3 June 1875 at same place was proved at Belfast by the oath of Mary Campbell of the Parade Bangor Widow the sole Executrix." Mentions wife and younger children but you might want to have a look in case other relatives are listed.
and
"The Will of Robert Campbell late of Bangor County Down Mariner deceased who died 20 October 1870 at same place was proved at Belfast by the oath of Robert Campbell of Bangor aforesaid Mariner the Son and one of the Executors." Several relatives mentioned.

WOW Thank you! The marriage is marvellous as I now think I can place Samuel in his rightful place - would you mind PMing me with the source of this info please Kingskerswell?
Would I be able to get the cert or a copy of the entry?

Afraid I have been outdoors till about 2 hours ago Aghadowhey so haven't yet had time to read through all those wonderful records you have sent! We're heading for about 4 days of heavy summer rain from tomorrow arvo so guess what  I'll be doing!  8)

Many many thanks!
Dale

Does anyone know when the Boyle’s left Ireland and went to New Zealand, and on which ship?
