Please can anyone provide me with information or even a photo on the Wallace Hotel in Newcastle on Tyne particularly in the early 1900s.

There is a debtor listing/receiving order for George Taylor, Licensed Victualler,  "residing and carrying on business at the Wallace Hotel, Argyle Street, Newcastle-upon-Tyne", filed December 23rd 1912.

 Kelly's trade directory 1914 lists the Wallace Hotel at 4 Stepney Lane ( South Side) Newcasdtle, with manager John Edward McPherson jnr.

Ward's  td of 1916 lists Wallace Hotel & Cafe Royale at Nelson St, Newcastle.

Thank you both for your replies. It's George Taylor who was our ancestor. Very interesting to hear about his hard times, he has always been a bit of a family hero among the older generation. I wonder what happened to him next.
It looks as if there were two Wallace Hotels. I have looked at maps of Newcastle and the Nelson St one is in the wrong part. I see that Stepney Lane joins Argyle St. so wonder if it was on the junction. We know from family talk that it was near the Quayside.
Newcastle has changed so much recently so I doubt that they are still the same.

 The marriage of a George Taylor and a Hannah Jane Norton was registered within the June Quarter of 1895 within the Newcastle Registraion District. The marriage took place at St Ann's church in Byker area.

One of their children was registered as Thomas WALLACE Taylor in Newcastle in March Qtr of 1909.
