Completed -Thanks.1861 East riding look up for Ward
« on: Saturday 31 December 11 17:28 GMT (UK) »
I'd appreciate it if you are able to check out the partial 1861 census for:
William Ward
b: Eastrington , 1792-1796?
m: Hannah
b: Eastrington 1801?

Son Kelita Ward
b: 1823, Eastrington
m: Margaret Simpson
d: 1901 Howden

I am trying to prove the relationship between Kelita and his parents and locate his mother's maiden name.
Thanks for your time and advice,
Shelaine

In 1851 he is living next door to William 59 and Hannah 50 and their son Samuel age 11.  HO107 2358 351 1
He has two children Mary 2 and Margaret 6 months.  All are born in Eastrington.   You really need a baptism look up for the local church to confirm parentage and then search for a marriage for William and Hannah too.

Hi Shelaine, Kelita appears to to be somewhat older than the children with this William and Hannah in 1841 ie in 1841 Census Ref HO107/1226/ 7/11/ 12 he is already with a Margaret of same age 15 in Eastrington.

William Ward 45
Hannah 45
Mosses 5
Samuel 2
HO107/1226/ 7/6/ 2

1851 Kelita HO107/2358/351/1

I wonder if William was previously married, and this is the mother of Kelita?
William Ward to Jane Jackson 25th November 1820 Eastrington, Yorks.

Thanks for the replies.
I wondered, too, if Kelita had a different mother.
I can't verify if this William, that lived next door, was indeed, Kelita's father.
There were other Wards living in the same village.
On the 1841 census the ages were rounded weren't they? So Kelita and Margaret could be
between 15 and 19 years of age. Kelita would then be quite a bit older than his siblings.
I couldn't find a baptism or birth for William Ward that fits the time frame as on the 1841 census.
I will look into the Jane Jackson connection.

Just discovered the William and Jane Jackson connection is a viable link for me. The pair emigrated to North America shortly after this census year.
