Richard Powles & Ann Genner Marriage 1836
« on: Monday 02 January 12 13:28 GMT (UK) »
HI Guys

I wonder if anyone has access to parish records for Ludlow marriages in 1836?  I am looking for the entry of marriage for Richard Powles and Ann Genner (Gennor) who were my 3 x great grandparents.  They married on 28 Jan 1836 (familysearch.org) and I am looking for bride and/or grooms fathers' name.  I believe Richard died before 1861 and that Ann may have remarried in Ludlow, in 1866 to either a George Parker or John Whittal.

Any help much appreciated.

Many thanks
Wendy

Hi

Not sure how much help this is, bearing in mind there are a number of surname variants, Powell, Powel, Pawell, Poell, Powle...

1858 March Q, Richard Powles, Cleobury Mortimer, registered death. V. 6a, P. 44. (Not too far from Ludlow)

Source, LPR:
8 Feb 1807 Richard, s. of Moses Powell and Ann, bap.

Ann's 2nd marriage appears to be 1871, not 1866, hence the uncertainty.

There are other records on family search and ancestry with similar output, though on balance 1814-1816 appears to be the mean DOB for Richard, which would render the LPR record invalid.

Regards
Geoff

Many thanks Geoff, will keep on looking.  Had spotted the 1858 death at Cleobury Mortimer and yes you're right about Ann's possible re-marriage being in 1871, not 1866, must have typo'd the date, sorry about that.

Much appreciated
