Hi
I have found further information out about James Meeke/Meek.  Mother Margaret Jane Craig, father James Meeke, married 28 February 1891. Surprisingly there were two.  The first James Meek was born on the 22/11/1891 but died shortly afterwards.   Margaret then gave birth again to another son on the 27/10/1892 and again called him James  :( I believe James emigrated to New Zealand.... but I just cannot find any records of his departure from Ireland.  Any further help would be gratefully accepted  :)

Hello.

Have sent a PM where that surname appears in published school rolls.  On further searching I see it is also active on some of the VERY popular social networking sites.

Have a look through these

http://archway.archives.govt.nz/SimpleSearchResults.do  [300+ hits for MEEK]

And thousands of hits to have a play with here. Use advanced search options to narrow down the field.

http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bin/paperspast?a=q&hs=1&r=1&results=1&dafdq=&dafmq=&dafyq=&datdq=&datmq=&datyq=&pbq=&sf=&ssnip=&tyq=&t=0&txq=meek&e=-------10--1----0--&x=27&y=3

Hope it helps. - Alan.

Thank you so much for info  :)

Janette.... where would I apply to, to get a copy of this death certificate?

Althea.... No second name was recorded on his birth certificate but goin on Irish tradition and the fact no other child in the family was given the name, he could have been given the name CRAIG, his mother's maiden name was Craig.... just a hunch... the first one certainly is a possibility given the year of birth.  Does it give any other information?  I may have to take a subscription out for FindMyPast.

Spades.... thank you

Alan... Thank you very much for links... will keep me occupied for hours lol

Thank you all again for your help, much appreciated  :) and if I can be of any help on this side of the pond, dont hesitate to ask.

Couldn't resist and bought some credits from FindMyPast...

I do believe that the record found by yourself Althea is my Grand Uncle....

J C Meek, aged 28 travelled with his wife Mrs M A Meek, aged 28 and their daughter M C Meek, aged 1 , It gives their country of origin as Ireland.... so now to find more needles in the haystack.

Many thanks again and if anyone is related to his family, I would love to hear from you.

kind regards

Maggie
