Angelina King - 1855

I wonder if anyone can help me.

My Great Grandmother Angelina King was born c1855 in Gainsborough and married Thomas James Goddard in 1873 in Sheffield. She lived in Sheffield until her death in 1917. She is called Angelina, Angela, and Annie depending on which census return you look at but her marriage cert is definitely Angelina.

Try as I might I can't find any reference to her prior to her marriage in the census or BMD.

I have found another Angelina [or Angeleano] born 1837 in Gainsborough daughter of Charles and Martha King. I'm wondering if Angelina was her illegitimate daughter and that is why I am struggling to track her down. This Angelina would have been about 18 at the time and I can't find a marriage for her.

If anyone can help I'd be very grateful.

Does she give the name of her father on her marriage certificate?

I don't have her actual marriage certificate, just the reference for April, May, June 1873. 9c433. I guess I'm going to have to fork out the money to get a copy of the original [I'm a bit strapped for cash right now.]

It's annoying me presently that the West Yorkshire Marriage records are available on line at Ancestry but they don't include Sheffield which was in the West Riding until the 1970's but isn't now.

In 1851 Census ref HO107/2120/214/7 is an Alice King aged 18 with on same page an Alexander King aged 1

PS also of note is that all the children on the 1851, the christian names all begin with an "A" !! Alice is the other daughter of Charles and Martha.

Hi again, it would appear that Alice took the younger members of the family "under her wing" as her father Charles King dies in Dec qtr 1849 Gainsborough v14 page 226, and this is her mother in 1851:-

Hmm, may have to rethink whos children are for instance Agnes and Angelina, it was the "Spar" part of their name that kept me looking, have a look at these births:-
