There was a MacGregor conference in Perthshire, during the proscription, which lasted several days, to decide whether to adopt the name of Grant due to their common ancestry in the Clan Alpin, and many kindnesses between them. This was agreed, and that a former MacGregor would be chief of the whole name. When word came to Castle Grant the laird was apoplectic, the very notion of some raggedy arsed MacGregor setting foot before the Laird of Grant, and the notion was dropped.
The Stewarts in exile referred to the Laird of Grant, who they failed to win over, as his Highland Majesty.
Skoosh.
