George Fairless m. Mary Stephenson - Sunderland?

Hello all, There is an LDS extracted birth for William Fairless b 29 Nov 1828 in Sunderland with parents shown as George Fairless and Mary Stephenson.  I cannot find their marriage in Church of England listings in either Co. Durham or Northumberland.  Can someone with sharper eyes than mine find this marriage?  I suspect that both George and Mary will have died by 1841 as William is found in 1841 living with a number of people, including an older Stephenson couple (John Stephenson b. 1771 and Mary Stephenson b. 1771) whom I suspect are probably his grandparents -- living on Church Street, Monkwearmouth (HO107/299-6/17 - page 31.  This William married Mary Jane Carter in 1859 and I have his family documented.  Thanks for any help on this puzzle as to more about William's parents!  Happy New Year      Pat

Not had any luck either 

I put in just the surname on the IGI and it does seem that Fairless and it derivations do come mostly from the Co. Durham area, so maybe they never legally married  or maybe they were non conformist

Under Harwicke's 1753 Marriage Act all valid marriages, except for Jews and Quakers, had to be in a C of E  Church licensed for the publication of Banns. This was the law until the introduction of Civil Registration, 1st July 1837.

Hello Patrish and Stan, well, at least I know my eyes aren't totally out of whack! Yes, my Fairlesses originated in County Durham and some migrated North to the Newcastle area.  Maybe someone out there has a "trick up their sleeve" and can shed some light on this couple......  Thanks very much for your interest and happy new year to you both!     Pat

They might not have married in Co. Durham or Northumberland. Or she could have been married before.
