London or kent born
« on: Sunday 08 January 12 01:53 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I am hoping some kind person could look up Census for me on a James Jeffery and his wife Esther to see if they came from London to Kent .

1851 Census Canterbury has James aged 70 Esther 62

1861 Census Canterbury
James aged 82  Esther 74

1871 Census Canterbury Esther aged 86

I have no other info from these Census.

Our James 1781 and Esther 1782 had children at Shoreditch London but may have moved to Canterbury Kent to have other children there
Trying to prove I have the right family but Esther's age is not working out too well but if I can prove they were from London then it is a possiblity I am on the right track

Hi Ian& Crisane
Thank you both for your prompt reply and as always there is a chance we get it wrong and I have just done so.
There must be two James Jefferys and two Esther combinations so maybe mine stayed in London possibly Shoreditch where their children were born but I can not seem to find them in the Census except a James Jefferry aged 50 in London East St. Botolph and there was another James Jefferry aged 38 also in the same place, this could be his son but without Easter the wife I can not prove these are mine either.

Once again thank you.

The only combination of James and Esther in 1841 in Middlesex I can find born anywhere the dates for the couple we already found.
1841 HO107/671/book 3 folio 9 page 10
Devonshire Street Green Square St George the Martyr
James Jeffery 40 gas fitter born in county Yes
Esther Jeffery 45 No

If you want to give more info, children's ages birth places etc, census if any for children, anything you already have that got you back to James and Esther we could take another look. :)

Hi Crisane
Appreciate your time and trouble but after it was proven to me by those Census for Kent that I had the wrong James and Esther as my James was born 14/1/1781 at Shoreditch London and Esther nee Davis born 29.4/1782 also of Shoreditch
I can only find three children to that marriage James born 3/9/1801 St. Dunstan London William Henry born 1803 christened 17/10/1804 St. Dunstan London and John born 10/7/1808 but christened 21/6/1812 at Finsbury London.

William Henry and John both came to Australia one as a Convict but apparently James stayed with his parents for awhile .

Can not find a death for James william Jeffrey or his wife Esther but sure now they died somewhere in London.

Appreciate your offer to help me but now I will have to focus on someone from London to help me out.
Thanks again for caring.
