Llanrwst
« on: Wednesday 11 May 05 21:30 BST (UK) »
My grand dad was born in Llanrwst in 1901 the family were living at 4 Lomax Terrace Llanrwst, father Henry/Harry, mother Annie(nee Evans)
Margaret Anne abt 1890. Robert 1892,Mary about 1894, Samuel about 1896 Llewellyn about 1899 and Willie 1901.

I do have one other address where they lived later but do not know if it is spellt correctly!! 4 Glan Gorwog Terrace?.

I have been told that Anne died(?) and Henry/Harry remarried she was from Breconshire.

Henry/Harry's parents were hawkers, one of his uncles was a master painter-John Davies 12 Factory Street Denbeigh??, an Aunt Mary Louisa married a Robert Greslen

I would very much appreciate any help or advice, as it would be marvelous to find relatives still around the area.

I take it that if you have the address in 1901, you have the 1901 census?

Do you also have the 91 census entries? Or would you like a look-up?

Do you have a surname for your granddad?

With this info, I could do a lookup for you back to 1861. If your granddads grandparents were from Llanrwst ,I can also have a look in the parish registers which go up to 1813 - I need a bit more info though.

Hi Sue,

if Harrys dad is called John, that counts out my suggestion for 81.

15 Nelson St , Birkenhead, Cheshire
  PRO Ref   RG11 / 3580 / 37
  Page 52
John DAVIES   Head   M   Male   41   Chester, Cheshire, Shipwright
Eliza DAVIES   Wife   M   Female   38   Cambridge,
Henry W. DAVIES   Son   U   Male   15   Flint, Wales   Scholar
Ada M. DAVIES   Daur      Female   3   Bhead, Cheshire,
Eliza (Twin) DAVIES   Daur      Female   1   Bhead, Cheshire,
Ann (Twin) DAVIES   Daur      Female   1   Bhead, Cheshire,

Or 3 others, using a time range of 2 years:
Select records to download - (50 maximum)
 1. Henry DAVIES -  Cheshire , Son   Birth: <1864> Rhyl, Denbigh,
 2. Henry DAVIES -  Denbigh , Serv   Birth: <1865> Henllan, Denbigh,
 3. Henry DAVIES -  Denbigh Son   Birth: <1864> Ruabon, Denbigh,

Non of whose fathers are hawkers. I would suggest you take a look at the 81 census and let me know which one you think is the right one (I would hazard a guess at no 2).

I'll see what I can find in 71

I am truly sorry to have caused you so much work, my apologies.
What is worse, is that I did have the information but was on the hard drive which crashed and had problems, so we bought a new pc instead and having to start from sratch!! this time I will print off any records, we have to learn from our mistakes!!!!!!!!!!

I think Henllan Street rings a bell, trying to think of other children names, also not sure but think Jon's brother Edward from Aberegele(?) staying with them, and she had a baby Edward about 5-7 mths if I can remember

Hope this will help you?
Regards
Sue

Hi Sue,

here's the family in 1871 in Minera, Den:

RG10/5656
Registration district:    Wrexham
Folio / page:    89  / 22
Sched. :    118

John Davies abt 1834  Ruthin, Denbighshire, Head
Eliza Davies abt 1841  Denbighshire, Wife
Edward Davies abt 1837  Abergele, Brother
John Davies abt 1854  Ruthin, Denbighshire, Son
Thomas Davies abt 1859  Ruthin, Denbighshire, Son
Ann Davies abt 1863  Ruthin, Daughter
Henry Davies abt 1865  Ruthin, Denbighshire, Son
Edward Davies abt 1870  Black Diamond, Flintshire, Son

Looks like I've found the brother Edward in 61. Will send the image.
Can't find John or any of the children. As the 61 isn't yet complete, I dare say, they aren't on it yet.

Have you also got the BMD for Henry's birth?

DAVIES, Henry
