1891 census lookup HENDRI(C)K(S)
« on: Sunday 08 January 12 21:14 GMT (UK) »
Could some one help me with a lookup on the 1891 census in Caernarvonshire, please? I have a family called HENDRIKS/HENDRICK/HENDRICKS in Birmingham the 1901, 1911 censuses. But in 1891 they seem to be in Caernarvonshire.

Father Henry b 1856 London
Mother Helena b 1860 Mosely Birmingham
Daughter Eileen Mary Lind b Birmingham 1887/8

Can anyone confirm this family, please - where they are living, father's occupation (he was an estate agent surveyor in 1901)

Thanks for any information you can pass on.

You should have said - I'd have put it on your earlier thread ;D

RG 12 / 4674 / 119 / 29

Rose House, Church Walk, Llandudno

Henry Hendricks, head, m, 35, Surveyor auctioneer estate agent valuer, London
Helena do, wife, m, 31, London *
Eileen M.L. do, daur, Birmingham
Kate Webb, serv, s, 29, Lady Help, Cradley Heath

Do you want to go any further back with Henry?

Edit - the information I gave about Helena was incorrect - she was born Moseley, Worcestershire

Hi,

Many thanks JenB (again!) - I put this thread in the Caernarvonshire section rather than 'muddy' the Birmingham thread. I have previously only done research in Cornwall where things get parish specific.

I notice that this census says that Helena was born in London, but all others say Birmingham & the couple married in Birmingham & Eileen was born there. I've looked at the birth register - it is a bit difficult - certainly looks like Eilsen not Eileen, to me!

Henry got married in 1886 so in 1881 he will be single. I am interested in his life before - when he left London, for example.

At first I thought there might have been a Scandinavian connection - HENDRIKS, but I think it's just a transcription/phonetic change. Henry was HENDRICKS, but Eileen ended up HENDRIKS not HENDRICK(S).

I need to chase Eileen (Lind) forward from 1911 now - I believe she went to Aberystwyth University, but I don't know when (yet).

Thanks again for the 1891 information.  :)

My apologies - I slipped a line when I was transcribing it. She was shown born Moseley Worcestershire.
I'll amend the previous posting.

Whatever - I think you must agree it has to be the person you're looking for!

RE

RG 12 / 4674 / 119 / 29

Many thanks for the previous information about the HENDRIKS family at Rose House, Church Walk(s), in Llandudno in 1891. I'm trying to find out whether the house still exists, has been renamed, or what number it was. Is there any information from neighboring returns that could help me pinpoint the building? Church Walks seems to be quite a long road of Victorian buildings - I've been up & down many times on Google Earth, & searched with Google.

Thanks in advance :)
