Fox family
« on: Monday 09 January 12 00:04 GMT (UK) »
Hi again, I now need help with the Fox branch.

By the 1901 census the family had moved to Dublin but they were all from County Kildare.  On the census the family was:-
                                                                 Laurence age 50
                                                                 Bridget age 40
                                                                 John age 29
                                                                 Laurence age 27
                                                                 Patrick age 25
                                                                 William age 23
                                                                 Thomas age 21

That's all I have on them apart from their daughter Elizabeth married Thomas Mooney and these became my great grandparents.

Once again thanks.

Hi, I'm interested in finding out more about the Fox Mooney family.
I believe my great grandmother was Bridget Mooney. She married a Richard Williams in dublin.
I was wondering if you had any info on them, as at the moment I'm still unsure of whether it is 100% the right one.
Many thanks.

Hi Jodi

Don't know if I can help you that much as I don't know much myself.  There is a Bridget Mooney on the 1901 census for Kildare aged 7yrs.  Parents are Thomas and Elizabeth Mooney, Thomas and Elizabeth are my great grandparents.  By the 1911 census the family have moved to Dublin, Bridget is not on this one.  The father Thomas had moved back to Kildare.

Bridget would have been born about 1894 if the age on the census is correct.  Elizabeths' maiden name was Fox.

You would need to get the marriage cert for Bridget to get her fathers' name and where she was living at time of marriage.  Then maybe try to find her birth cert.

Hope this helps

Thank you for getting back to me.
I think it is the right Bridget. I have her marriage certificate and her father is named as Thomas mooney. She is living in dublin at the time, which would fit in with the rest of the family.
There is a half made family tree on ancestry.co.uk and Bridget is listed as being from kildare.
There is only one Bridget around the right time with Thomas as the father and born in kildare.
I thought I'd see if you knew any other info because you can never be sure!!
Thank you for your time
Jodi

Hi again Jodie

Your great grandmother Bridget would be my dads aunty so my great aunt.  My grandmother was Bridgets' sister Margaret Mooney.  Other brothers and sisters of the family I have are Laurence born abt 1890, Patrick born abt 1892, Mary born abt 1903, Richard born 1904 died 1933 married a Margaret, don't know when or her maiden name and Michael born abt 1906.  Margaret Mooney married my granddad Charles Byrne in 1927, Margaret died in 1934.

I also have the details of the electoral roll for 1939 - 1940 for 4 Bow Bridge Dublin.  Family members on this are Elizabeth Mooney, Kate Mooney, Patrick Mooney, Michael Mooney, Charles Byrne, Kathleen and John Farrington.  My dad and his brother would also have been living there at this time.

Hope this helps.

That's a great help. Thank you.
I've found the Fox family on the census as well. Margaret and Richard died very young didn't they? I'm finding the Mooneys are a bit more difficult to trace! I had hoped that the Grandparents marriage certificates would have given more information, but they weren't too keen on details were they! I will keep looking though, that's all part of the fun I suppose.

Thank you for all of your help.

Jodi

I posted on the other thread.
Is this the family
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Dublin/Usher_s_Quay/Bow_Lane_West/71598/

It's better to stick to one thread or it gets very confusing.
