mary e davies (a bit of a long shot)
« on: Friday 13 January 12 00:25 GMT (UK) »
i'm looking for my grandmother, mary elizabeth davies, born 1898 or 1899, father's name thomas davies and thats all i know for certain. she may have had sisters, emma jane and
annie, possibly a brother, thomas. i,m guessing they were from flintshire or denbighshire.
i know mary e married william griffiths in 1922 but i know nothing about her early life
and family, some one out there must know, unfortunately her offspring didn't

What was her fathers occupation on her marriage cert?

Were her siblings younger or older than Mary?

The 1901 has a Mary Davies b 1900 living in Denbighshire - father Thomas but not with siblings as named

There are 2 Mary E Davies entries in Flintshire with a father Thomas - one b 1899 and the other 1898 - but neither have siblings with the names given

None of the 3 Thomas's above had that occ - Road labourer & Butcher for the Flintshire entries and Boot maker for the Denbighshire entry

Your best chance is to try find a 1911 entry.  There are 10 Mary Elizabeth Davies entry on the 1911 index with a father Thomas - 4 of which were not living in Wales

So you are left with 6

I tried using Emma Jane and got one match in Merionethshire

You can manipulate" the 1911 index using the instructions below.  You can then use the Genes Reunited 1911 index search to find their birthplaces

http://www.GenesReunited.co.uk/search.page/index/census_1911

USING THE FREE 1911 INDEX TO DETERMINE THE CORRECT HOUSEHOLD

http://www.1911census.co.uk/search/tnaform.aspx

Once you find a possible match - make a note of the county and district in which the person was living

Return to the index and in PERSONAL DETAILS - just put the surname of the family - nothing else

In LOCATION - Select the county and below it - type in the district

In OTHER MEMBERS OF THE HOUSEHOLD - show the full name of the person you have found on the index

Click SEARCH

The 1911 census is strictly pay per view so you will have to buy credits to view the full entry - the above instructions will only help to possibly show others of the same surname in the same household

mary elizabeths date of birth i'm sure was 1898 as her age on the marriage cert, jan 1922 was 23 so she was probably 24 in 1922
