Hello
I have seen photo's on here with the persons named on the photo, I don't mean tags that I have to click on , I would like them on the photo permanently, can it be done or do I have to have photo software .

The answer to both questions would be yes! That doesn't mean that you have to buy expensive software. There are two extremely good software programs available completely free of charge. The ones I'm talking about are -

Hi, I do all my editing on a suite called Foto focus studio, I bought it about 10 years ago, I add text and erase background so photo shows through, Glad to help if you want me too :)

You already have photo software that will do that for you .... look for microsoft paint you will be able to do all and more  8)
GUIDE FOR PHOTO RESTORATIONS PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR SCANNER BED IS CLEAN AND SCAN AT A RESOLUTION OF 300-600 WITH THE SCALE AT 100% MINIMUM.

If you would like a coloured version, details such as hair colour , eyes and clothing etc.  if known  would be helpful to restorers

Thank you all ,yes I have word it will do what I want had a little play with my photo , but think I need grandson to help me add the text forgotten what I learned in computer classes  ::) yes I forgot about paint another option
