Thank you for replies.
I do not know for sure where our Isabella Florence Matthewson was born, but the strongest possibility I can find is as follows:
from the 1891 Census for St. Leonards, Perth, Isabella (the Elder, or Isabella E) a widow and the Head was living at 93 Comacium (

can someone confirm this street name) Street, St. Leonards. She was aged 40, born in Forfar Broughty Ferry (about 1850 - 51?). Also in the house were 5 unmarried children, the eldest being Isabella (the Younger, who I will call Isabella Y), aged 18, (born about 1873 - 74?) whose occupation is given as a Serving woman in dye works.
This occupation ties in with our known Isabella Florence's occupation given on her Marriage cert. of 1894 as a Printfield hand.
The ages of Both Isabella's Y & E indicated in the Census also tie in with our known information.
Isabella Florence married Thomas McMillan 13/7/1894 at 35 Church Street, Alexandria, Bonhill, Dunbarton, after publication according to the forms of the Christian Brethren. Her address was given as 35 Church Street. Was this her home or was it an address of the Christian Brethren?
Her mother's name is given as Isabella Roberts or Matthewson, but no father's name is given.
Isabella Florence died 26/1/1897 aged 23, in childbirth, at 6 Deehurst (
) Street, Camlachie, Glasgow. On the Death cert., her mother is given as “Isabella Matthewson, subsequently married to ________ Roberts, butcher”
No father’s name. From the above we can deduce that Isabella Florence’s mother Isabella was either born a Matthewson or married one. She later married a Roberts, butcher, after 1874 and before 1894.
Thanks in advance. ADB.
