How very interesting.  Good that MMU are trying to trace relatives of people who lived in the houses to invite them to come and see the work.  Thank you for the info.

I am so glad you all  found it as interesting as I did. Some of my family lived in the area.  I must get my old map out ;D.
 I am also glad the archaeologists are being careful to get as much information as they can about the old farm house and out-buildings that used to be there.

Using Mancs Man's thread Manchester Maps with Overlay on the Lancashire Resources board and Google Street View to look at the area of waste ground around Bonsall St/ Archway/George Parr road shows the area the archaeologists must plan to survey.  They couldn't possibly dig the whole area in 3 weeks, it's massive, but presumably they'll dig areas of interest as indicated by the geophys.

Old streets in that area are Bonsall St/ Denham St/Dale St/Pownall St/Naylor St/ Phillip St and others.
Perrins - Manchester and Staffs
Honan - Manchester and Ireland
Hogg - Manchester 19 cent
Anderson - Newcastle mid 19 cent
Boullen - London then Carlisle then Manchester
Comer - Manchester and Galway

I'm going down as a volunteer to help with the dig...really looking forward to it and hoping to find some interesting articles from Industrial revolution and beyond.....should be fascinating.
