Thomas ECCLES and Sarah ASPINALL

Hi all,

I know a wee bit about these two, and have it listed that they were married c. 1857 in Liverpool, but I can find nothing to prove this. I turn to you, dear Rootschatters, and ask if you can help me find anything concrete on the marriage.

I've had a letter from my Grandmother asking if I can find out as it's of interest to her too.

Thomas Eccles:
Born: 14 October 1832, Hoylake
Died: 21 September 1913, Hoylake

Son of Michael ECCLES and Margaret Ellen HOLMES

Worked as a lighthouse/telegraph keeper.

Sarah Aspinall:
Born: 1836, Liverpool, Lancs
Died: 19 November 1919, Hoylake

Daughter of James Samuel ASPINALL b. 1811
and Alice WRIGHT(?)

I will write back to my Grandmother and let her know they were in fact married in 1857.

The James Samuel Aspinall who Married Alice Wright 17 Jan 1831, St Mary, Walton on the Hill, Lancashire has his Occp as a Ironmonger...

Lots of different Occps's?
1851 Census James is a Railway Labourer born c 1811, Liverpool.
Sarah is there age 15.
I cant find them in 1841 Census.

I noticed lots of Family Trees but some have glaring mistakes as they Census they have are not your James/Alice. There is another one  with a Wife Alice and he is easy to trace and his Occp was a Farmer.

Did your James remarry?
I followed the Samuel born c 1847, Liverpool in the 1851 Census and in 1861 he is with Father James S, Labourer ? Boiler, born c 1811, Liverpool.
This James has a much younger Wife Mary and 2 new Children.

Oh thank you Trish. 

I'm not sure if James did remarry, I will have to look but off the top of my head I don't think I have record of it in my files.

There are a few James Samuel Aspinall's I've found who have married Alice's, Ann's etc .. very unreliable family trees on ancestry when it comes to this line!

Have a look around on Lancs OPC and see if you can sort them all out.
I got confused after a few minutes!
Yes, several James/Alice combos including a James Aspinall who Married a Alice Aspinall.

At least we know the 1851 census is correct

So Alice must have died between 1851 Census and 1853 Marriage.
