William Heathfield *completed*

Hi,

Can anyone please help solve my problem?

William Heathfield, b. Chulmleigh Devon 1865, d. Cardiff, Glam 1897. Is there any way to establish who he married other than obtaining the marriage certificate?

I've found a marriage entry in Cardiff Mar 1887 but I don't know whether he married Elizabeth Jane Giggs or Margaret Sexton. Unfortunately I can find no entry for either William or his partner on the 1891 UK census. His parents, William Thomas Heathfield & Susan appear in 1891 at 16 Llantwit Street, Cardiff along with their two other children.

The thing that puzzles me is that I can't find a record of a death or remarriage for Elizabeth/Margaret Heathfield or subsequent appearances on the 1901 or 1911 census.

1901 census doesn't have many females of the right age born Glastonbury in Glamorgan. There is this one in Barry

Samuel A Williams head mar 34 marine engineer (fitter) b. Wilts, Swindon
Elizabeth J wife 30 b. Somerset, Glastonbury

not that I can see a likely marriage

Thanks both, that's definitely the one I'm after & confirms my suspicions.

I also found the record for Jane Elizabeth with Samuel Williams in 1901 & 1911 & strongly supect that's her. The 'marriage' supposedly took place in about 1899 but I can't find a corresponding record.

Much appreciated, this has bugged me for ages!
