Green - Philpot Marriage c1790 **COMPLETED**
« on: Monday 23 January 12 09:40 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find the marriage of William GREEN(E) & Sarah PHILPOT probably just before about 1800.  By 1812 they are in Ilketshall St Andrew & they seem to remain there - both buried in Ilket St Andrew.

The first child I have evidence for seems to have been born around 1799 in Ilket St Andrew.

Can anyone help please
Keziah

May or may not be relevant but Family Search has William GREEN marrying Mary PHILPOT not Sarah. Still no date just c1797. The first baptism I found for that couple was 7 Oct 1798 at Ilketshall for son David.

Thank you SandraAust

Mmmmm - the David born c1798 sort of ties in with a David that I have found born c1799 & had partly attributed to William Green & Sarah (Philpott).  The earliest birth I have found that I can positively attribute to William & Sarah is Robert who was buried in 1812 (Suffolk Burial Index) - infant son of William Green & Sarah (Philpott).

I can positively link a David Green c1799 I have found as being the brother of Jeremiah, a later child of William & Sarah, but that does not prove they had the same mother.  It had crossed my mind William may have been married before Sarah, a sister is always a possibility, & of course there is a chance they may be nothing to do with my Philpot's.

Could not find the entries you are talking about on familysearch - perhaps something happens when the website is turned upside down??? Could you possibly send me a link?

thank you for your help
K

Hi K,

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true

This is the link that shows David as son of William and Mary.

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true is the link showing c1797 for the marriage.

The problem is of course that no sources are given. You would need to have the marriage and baptism verified via the parish records. If it can't be found on RC, maybe try contacting the church directly as I have found most of them to be extremely helpful.

Good luck!
