James Joseph Nulty Belfast Street Directories 1920s
« on: Monday 23 January 12 16:40 GMT (UK) »
Hi! This is my first post so apologies for any errors! I am looking for James Joseph Nulty in the 1920s in Belfast - specifically whether he married. I have 2 addresses -26 Altcar Street and 3 Glendower Street. His medal cards say that he gave these two addresses for 1921. His mother Kate Nulty lived at 26 Altcar Street and I know he was there as a boy from about 1910. I think he moved to Glendower Street in 1921 and would really like to know if he remained there and if he lived with a wife there. He was in England in the early 1930s so it would also be great to know when he left Belfast and if his wife (if any) remained in Belfast. Sorry if this sounds a bit complicated! Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Hi Mags! Yes, that's the family in 1911. There's a 20 + year gap until James Joseph surfaces again and we would really like to fill that gap and particularly find a marriage and children as these would be siblings to my mother in law who I am helping to find her dad (James Joseph). I'm struggling a bit as I am new to this and Irish marriage records have presented quite a challenge! xx

Hi Jim! I've just had a look at Ancestry Ireland but can't see any record of a marriage. If there is a marriage in 1921, that would almost certainly be the one I have been looking for for so long. His father's name was James so I am really quite hopeful that this is the one. However, when I put his name into the search box on the site, it comes up with no marriage matches. Am I being daft?? I'll go back and have another look as I really would like to find this marriage but could you maybe send me the link so I can make sure I'm looking in the right place? Thanks a million. xx

I think that I am related to the above, my fathers name was Charles Nulty, his fathers name was James and his mothers name was Kate. My fathers brothers were Frank James and Jack. his sisters were Kathleen (Kate) and Besie. I'm not sure what year you posted the above but if you still require more information please reply as I have some old photos end other stuff.

Hi! Yes, I think you are related to my mother in law, Pam. She is James' daughter and she remembers an uncle Frank being named but she never met him. From my research, I know there was a Charlie too and a John (Jack?) James senior and Kate are definitely correct too. We had drawn a blank once we had constructed a family tree! We would be so interested in more information and photos as Pam's father's life was rather shrouded in mystery - I think he preferred it this way as there were a few skeletons in his own closet, although not in the rest of the family's we think! I had been trying to find Lily and Kathleen (James' first children born in Belfast in the 1920s) as they would have been Pam's siblings. We had the names of James brothers and sisters but knew nothing about them and Pam would be so pleased to know more about them - she has always wondered whether she had relatives on her father's side. I think you can private message me on here. I will try and see if I can private message you too. Thanks so much for posting. It's good to hear from you.
