Glanford Brigg which Parish? COMPLETED THANKS
« on: Tuesday 24 January 12 14:23 GMT (UK) »
I have a couple married in 1918 at Glanford Brigg, but am unsure which parish Glanford Brig would come under? or if G.B itself is a parish? Help please

Thanks  Steve

Glanford Brigg district contains many parishes http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/glanford%20brigg.html

Thanks Geoff-E
The problem that I have is the BMD records a marriage between Walter Grinell and Elsie Lonsdale in Dec 1/4 1918, registered in Glanford Brigg.  I think there is a transcription error somewere and his name should be Gurnell that was why I was asking about the parish so that I can dig it out and have a look.

The GRO index is typewritten, and clearly states Grinnell, Walter.

The GRO index is typewritten, and clearly states Grinnell, Walter.

... but that's only a transcription isn't it?  Incidentally, it is Grinell with one "l".

Transcribed from the transcription that was sent to GRO.  :-\  But the typist may not have been the person who compiled the list ... in which case it's perhaps three transcriptions away from the original.  ::)

EDIT:  Seeing what noseyoap has added below, it seems a first transcription also has GRINELL.

Having looked at the latest census available to me ...

There was a Walter GURNELL born in Lincs - but he had moved to Bridlington.

There was a Walter GRINELL born in Wolverhampton - he was living in Scunthorpe.

Without this info, I would be thinking it ought to be the GURNELL chap, but as all the brothers of Walt GRINELL married in Scunthorpe, I imagine that Walt GRINELL was the one who married Elsie LONSDALE. :)
