Lewis Farmer b.1876 Derby
« on: Tuesday 24 January 12 17:46 GMT (UK) »
I'd be very grateful for some information on my great grandfather Lewis/Louis Farmer...in 1911 he was living with wife Sarah Ball b.1878.......is it possible to find his parents? Thanks Steve
p.s. He is listed as a manufacturer's clerk...I think he worked in a pottery factory and was one of the first trades unionists.....where could I look for that kind of information?

Hi

As he was born in 1876 - you will find him with parents and siblings on the 1881 census which is free at

Are you sure you were using Family Search and not one of the paysites (Ancestry)

There are no actual files to open as such - you just click on the name

Thanks Carole! Got the hang of it now.......I clicked 'download file' at first and it sent me to what was being described as a 'harmful' program....just tried again and clicked the name and it showed all the info......I'm not v.good at these things! Problem is I'm going to be on that site all night now! Thanks a lot, Steve
