FAMILYSEARCH Irish collections missing - found!
« on: Friday 27 January 12 09:02 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

I've just tried to do a search on the "New" FamilySearch site and tried to go straight to the Irish collections.

However, today they appear to be missing.  Just the four Irish collections.   They were there yesterday.  Is this somethong wierd about my computer/access or is it the same for everyone - and, if so, does anyone know what's going on?
McDonough, Oliver, McLoughlin, O'Brien, Cuthbert, Keegan, Quirk(e), O'Malley, McGuirk (Ireland)
Dudley, Winchurch, Wolverson, Brookes (Black Country)
Concannon, Moore, Markowski (Markesky), Mottram, Lawton (Black Country)

Ah... it's just changed and I see what they've done. Ireland no longer under Europe but new Brtisih Isles section on main page.

Have I just imagined that Ireland used to come under the Europe listings?  I've just searched and it's listed under

Why not? all Ireland was part of the U.K. after all.

Obviously the North currently is and the remainder has previously been, but it wouldn't be the first place I'd look.  Anyway, glad it's been found.

People always make this mistake, the British Isles is a geographical group of islands the largest of which is Britain therefore the group is called the British Isles nothing to do with politics.

It's like saying Canada is in America which it is but it's part of the Continent not the country.
