I was wondering if there was a trade directory for Glasgow around 1863..
I have a Francis McQuade that was a Cabinet Maker/Joiner.. and was wanting to find a little more on him..
In 1863, age 48 he died at a Millars Place, Stockwell Street Glasgow.. I have found that in 1867 Millars Place Stockwell street was a furniture store.. So was wondering if the shop was ran or owned previously by my Francis McQuade.. I found a photo on the Virt. Mitchell Lib. site of Millars Place a furniture store 1867..
On his death certificate he is down as a furniture dealer (census has him as a cabinet maker) and on his wifes death certificate has him down as a Master Cabinet Maker.
So I was wondering how I go about finding out if he owned or ran the place..
He would have done an apprenticeship in Co Monaghan Ireland as didn't come to Glasgow until c1847-49..
Thank you, Ele...
