How long does it take to add a name to the CWGC & Roll of Honour?
« on: Tuesday 31 January 12 23:39 GMT (UK) »
I've been trying to get someone added to the Roll of Honour since summer 2009. He's been accepted by the MOD, and the details were sent off to a UKA inspector to inspect the grave in Dec 2009. I've given them the grave number,  but it isn't accessible for safety reasons although there is a place for commemorative plaques in another part of the cemetary.

I'm just wondering what is taking so long. I've sent reminders, but nothing's happened so far as I can tell.

Hi
I had one of "my" non commemorated lads added last week after nearly three years! Still havent total proof of his grave however he is listed on the National Debt Of Honour now.

I emailed CWGC last Monday had a response in the evening and he was added the next day...

If you want me to pass you the CWGC contacts details PM me ill give you them

It does take longer if you have a grave to get looked at!

I've had two added this week, both from about 12 months ago, passed by the MoD within a couple of weeks and with known graves. Like Ady, it was only after I emailed CWGC that they were added to the UK Book of Remembrance. The grave searches are still not complete apparently.

Thank You. I contacted them and his name is being put on the UK Book of Remembrance. I expect it takes a short while to appear. I guess it will appear on the CWGC casualty search.

It should be only a couple of days at the most. They do add names on a Saturday sometimes. As soon as he is added, he will be on the search.

Sapper Harry Mount was apparently added today, but he's not coming up on the search yet.

Is he your man?

Thank you Phil. I'll keep a check.

There seem to be quite a lot of people who have been missed.

Just wondering, do you seek them out, or are they from your family tree?

best wishes

chrissie
