births at sea

 I have just discovered that a great great grandmother of mine was born at sea around 1834-1836, by the name of Ann Pearce,  Could any one tell me how i would go about discovering a birth certificate for this.        Would it have been registered in the U.K. when the ship docked??                                                            Many thanks to anyone who could throw some light on this
