births at sea
« on: Thursday 02 February 12 18:54 GMT (UK) »
I have just discovered that a great great grandmother of mine was born at sea around 1834-1836, by the name of Ann Pearce,  Could any one tell me how i would go about discovering a birth certificate for this.        Would it have been registered in the U.K. when the ship docked?????                                                            Many thanks to anyone who could throw some light on this

There were no birth certificates before July 1837, and the introduction of Civil Registration
