« on: Saturday 04 February 12 21:32 GMT (UK) »
I have Charles Henry Bourke, transported to Tasmania on the Lord Auckland (4), departed Ireland 29 September 1853, arrived Tas. 29 Jan 1854. Convict no. 6097. I would really appreciate if someone knows anything else about this man. I have hit a brick wall
Many thanks in advance.
Pinkfan.

What details do you have on Charles from Australian records - e.g. year of birth, parents names etc ?

His birth was before the start of civil records so you need to know a fairly detailed location for your Bourke family so you can check if parish records are available.

see : Introduction to Irish Records
My Ancestor came from Ireland - where do I start?

Hi,
Thank you, I will read those links.
All I have on him is he was tried again in Tasmania for manslaughter on 4 June 1860 . And I know of at least 2 sons, John, and Joseph, who married sisters by the name of Short.
