MARRIAGE c1900's possibly Krugersdorp area
« on: Wednesday 08 February 12 11:46 GMT (UK) »
Hi from Down Under
I have had no success whatsoever in researching the SOUTH AFRICAN part of this person's background and am hoping someone may be able to help.

Looking (and hoping) for help with research in SOUTH AFRICA, (possibly KRUGERSDORP but not definite).

Walwin Harold WILKE b. 30/09/1881 Glenelg, SOUTH AUSTRALIA served in the Boer War and WW1.  He married Gertrude Eugene MELVILLE c 1900 most possibly in SOUTH AFRICA (as son was born there 1906), although to date no record has been located.  He died 31/03/1958 Daw Park, SOUTH AUSTRALIA and was cremated 31/03/1958 Centennial Park, SOUTH AUSTRALIA.

They had a son Leslie Beaumont WILKE born 28/08/1906 in Krugersdorp, SOUTH AFRICA

Leslie married Audrey Fyfe HENDERSON 04/03/1933 Stow memorial Church, Adelaide, SOUTH AUSTRALIA.
He married his 2nd wife Guillemine Anne LAMBERT in 1940 in Victoria, SOUTH AUSTRALIA.

Despite MANY attempts to locate a marriage in SOUTH AFRICA between Walwin Harold WILKE and Gertrude Eugene MELVILLE no details  have been found.

Walwin WILKE was the 1st cousin twice removed of my husband and a great “chum” (which was his nickname) of my husband’s father Harold WILKE in South East SOUTH AUSTRALIA.

If anyone can assist with this research I would be delighted to hear from you.
