Updated found in 1911 Thomas Henry GOSNELL ? missing in 1901
« on: Wednesday 08 February 12 21:19 GMT (UK) »
Would really appreciate some help or suggestions as to where he is in 1901 or 1911

Thomas Henry GOSNELL born 30 Dec 1895 Poplar

Father Thomas Henry GOSNELL Dock Labourer (have no idea where and when he was born)
Mother Emily GOSNELL nee KEMP

I am almost sure they never married

She also had twin girls by Thomas Henry GOSNELL in 1894 both of them died the same year

Emily born 11 Dec 1857 Regents Park St Pancras was married to an Adam Muller who died in 1892 have her in 1891

I know where her other children by Adam were after 1891

Thomas Henry junior did marry in 1916 in Scotland (neither parent signed as witnesses )but cannot find him in the Scottish records either

Have got his Medal Cards and his migration to Canada in 1922 thanks

Have now found him in the new Schools records online at Ancestry which has led to me finding his Mothers remarriage and her Death
Thanks everyone

Hi

I've amended your topic as 1911 census requests are not allowed on Rootschat.

Have you ruled out the Thomas Henry Gosnell registered in March Q.1867 Poplar vol. 1c  p.638  ??
Although I can't see him in 1901 either...

Also a search of misstranscrpts by searching for Gos* in 1901 gives a Thomas H Goswell born circa 1850...wharf labourer !! but a search with St George In The East doesn't give mea solid answer as to household to see if wife is Emily. http://www.1901censusonline.com

Thanks for that JJ I had noticed that one born in 1867 and of course Thomas Henry junior was born in Poplar too?
Also in 1901 Henry H Goswell born 1850 is actually down as a Wharf Labourer but somebody has scrawled on it Dock Labourer, he is the only dock labourer with the right name almost that I can find ?  but he is with a wife Louisa ? although I cannot find a marriage between those two ?
Its all very confusing.

Here they are again as Goswell in 1881 so appears to rule them out ?

Now you can try concentrating on the one born 1867... age difference not a huge drawback, as my Gma was 11 years older than Gpa...

thanks again it does seem more likely to be him ? on Thomas's Juniors marriage in Scotland in 1916 he says Father is a Rock Labourer ? I wondered where they would be doing that ?
Just dont understand why I cannot find any of the three of them in 1901 or 1911 ?

Hmmmm wonder if there was a call for quarry labourers / slate or mineral rock miners needed in Scotland in the early 1900s...Has anyone looked on the 1901 for you there?

I realize now why some of this sounded familiar, as we worked on finding the Muller children for you.

What a memory ?? yes you did and how amazing that turned out to be ? have all their details now who they married their children their Deaths Orbituries and even Head Stones ?
This Emily is their Mother ,my Great Grandmother, was shocked when I found these other Children born to her ,and still cannot find her Death ? most frustrating.
You have a point about quarrying ? even Thomas's Juniors Marriage does not give a clue to where his parents were they aren't even witnesses?
