Existance of Parish Records
« on: Saturday 14 May 05 07:16 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know if registers survived for Chawleigh or Chulmleigh covering the years around 1800 - births/marriages etc? I can't find anything on the LDS site.

Thanks, Kirsty

Hello Kirsty,

I'm a bit of a stranger here but I'll soon find my way around. I'm open to correction but the registers for Chawleigh and Chulmleigh are probably stored in the Devon Record Office in Exeter. www.devon.gov.uk/record_office.htm

Best Wishes, Christopher

Dear Kirsty,

The records for Chulmleigh and Chawleigh and most of Devon are on microfiche at the North Devon Records Office in Barnstaple. Some North Devon and East Devon registers are also there but not all as some are in Exeter at the Devon Record Office.

I have sent you a PM too.

Best wishes
