Frederick Campbell Allen.
« on: Sunday 12 February 12 07:57 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I've had so much success with people helping me out on my family tree I thought that  I would try my luck again with another member of my Allen family. Frederick Campbell Allen was born in Antrim Q2 1885 to Ezekiel Allen & his second wife,Jane Mahood. I have traced him, living with his parents in 1901 & 1911. I believe he married at least twice - the first time on 19/12/1914 to Mary Brady. They had at least one child;Mary Ann Allen born in 1916. I cannot trace a date of death for Mary but I think Frederick married again on the 17/08/1918.Her name was Mary Moore. After that I cannot trace him or any of his family or any of their deaths. Did he emigrate I wonder? If so I have been unable to trace any emigration details. Any help gratefully received.

Regards

Hi, looks like Fredrick's first wife may have died in childbirth, if this is the child born in 1916, Mary Ann Allen

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FBY7-PYQ

(can confirm from another source that this child's parents were Fred and Mary Brady)

Then there is the death of a Mary Allen aged 22 in the same quarter, same year

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FRKX-PWP

(Buried in the City cemetery Belfast)

Maybe a coincidence, but looks highly probable.

The online Civil index records for Northern Ireland stop in 1922, 1922 -1959 have yet to go online, this maybe  why you are not finding any information after the marriage in 1918

Hi,
It seems that Mary Moore was a widow whose maiden name was Rodgers. In 1910 William Moore married Mary Rodgers in St. Annes Church of Ireland, Shankill. In both marriages Mary's father was Samuel.

Hi,

Thanks - it all looks very probable. I didn't consider that Mary Moore may have been a widow. I could try & trace her in the 1901/1911 census & see if it could be the case. Very interesting.

Hi,

Following on from the previous posts can anyone give me any further details about Mary Rodgers from her marriage records, the first in 1910 to William Moore & the second (surname Moore) in 1918 to Frederick Allen? Does it show her father,Samuel Rodger's,occupation or the age of Mary? I am having trouble tracing both Samuel and/or Mary in the 1901 census & these details would help me find them.

As far as I know, the only way to see the occupations is to get the actual marriage certificates.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
