William Evans
« on: Sunday 12 February 12 21:44 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for any information on William Evans. The date & place of birth comes from 1851/61 Wales census. It states DOB: 1803 Llanidloes Montgomeryshire. This is all I have to go on except that his wife was Ann (think last name of Thomas) she was from Llandovery, Carmarthenshire DOB: 1811/12 the 2 dates are also from the same year census.
I have been unable to find anything except a note on the Curiousfox web site
which lists the same information as on census, except the reporting person lists her 2xGreatgrandmother as one of their children. The submitter has not answered my question to date. The other information I can access from the web does not show anything before the 1841 census that I have been able to link to the family.
A lead on his parents or parent would be a great help.
Thank You

Hi and Welcome to Rootschat  :)

There are three baptisms showing in Llanidloes for William Evans on the MGS transcriptions ~

31 Jan 1801 s/o David (farmer) and Margaret Evans
22 Jan 1822 s/o William and Mary Evans
19 Feb 1803 s/o Samuel (labourer) and Mary Evans

These are just baptisms in the Church of England (established church) and the family could have been non-conformists and wouldn't show.

I don't think that Findmypast would show anything extra and they do have the Montgomeryshire records online.

Do you have any more information about their children?  I see from the 1851 that those at home  were all b. Monmouthshire

Is this their possible marriage:

It looks as if the family were non-conformist by the time daughter Margaret was baptised - a likely baptism at the English Wesleyan,Tredegar Iron Works

First Thank You for your answers. ;D
The information I have on the children is:
Margaret DOB: 1834 @ Ranby Monmouthshire
Shown in 1851/61 census w/family
DOD: 7 Dec 1879 @ Chapel of Ease Abercane
Will probated: 27 Dec - that is where I got the death information - all was left to her mother Ann

Elizabeth DOB: 1836 only appears in 1851 census - no other information on her

To summarize: The only ones I know most about are
William DOB: 1840 found one reference to his marriage

Caroline DOB: 1857 DOD: 1926 married Joseph Weech Jr. and her mother Ann died while living with the Weech family in the 1881Wales census she was listed as "mother-in-law" and widowed

Evan DOB: 1850 DOD: aft 1930 was married at least once and died in U.S. at the home of his daughter in Las Angeles Cal.

John DOB: 17 Aug 1842 DOD: 6 Dec 1910 Joliet, Will, Illinois He is my Greatgrandfather and on his death certificate is where I got the name William.

There are no living family that can tell me anything more on this side of my family.

I will certainly look over your finds and again Thank You for your help, I have really been hitting the "brick Wall" with William I can not seem to find any solid proof on him before the 1841/51 census.
