hi heywood,

Forgot to say
I have not found the God parents for Francis Markey b. 1867 yet, and unable to recall them.

If you can get them, perhaps you could also see if there is an occupation for Michael. Some records do show that.

As I recall there is no mention of occupations on those R.C. records unlike C of E parish churches.

The only record for occupation of Michael is labourer  (on Francis & Catherine's marriage cert) and that covers a multitude although mining, chemical works and glass making was common at that time.
Catherine said her father was also labourer but he was a chemical worker.

My next task is to organise a visit to the archives to find godparents.

Familysearch has a baptism at St. Bede Jarrow of :

Anna Markee. Born 30 March 1869. Baptized 6 April 1869. Abode Jarrow. Parents - Michaelis Markee and Catharina Cavanagh Markee.

Francis parents at baptism two years earlier were Michaelis Markey and Anna Cavanagh Markey. Anna and Catherina may be the same person, same maiden name.

Alan.
Northumberland - Smith, Willis,
Durham - Rogerson, Child
Cumberland - Irving, Hill
North Yorkshire - Layfield,
Ireland - Collins

hello,

I have found another birth /baptism for Anna Markey.

Anna Markey b.13.Nov 1869. Baptised 14 Nov 1869. Jarrow,
Parents James Markey and Mary nee Hayden.

I will also check the godparents at that baptism when I manage to go to the archives.
there is also a death recorded for Ann Markey age 0.

Date /death A/M/J  1870 South Shields 10a 345
will need to check burial records to ascertain which family is involved.

hi,
I have tried to include info  involving Michael and/or   Ann/Catherine Cavanagh.

As I mentioned previously occupation of father and address of parents are not included in RC baptism registers.

Unfortunately I was unable to locate the burial record for the Anna Markey who died A/M/J  1/4 1869 age 0
This would have shown next of kin, so still don't know which family she was from.

missed from previous list,

William Cavanagh baptism 1866 was @ St. Bede RC Jarrow

Baptism for Michael Markey @ St Bede RC Church Jarrow
b. 19 Dec 1874   bap.10 Jan 1875
parents; Michael Markey & Margaret Reilly
Goparents; James Markey & Bridgett Connor.

still  :-\   any further assistance would be greatly appreciated.
