Help needed - RAF record

Hi all, wonder if anyone can help.  I am trying to research a relative of my hubby and am not having too much luck.  We came accross a Navigators Air Bombers and Air Gunners Flying Log Book which belonged to 2200858 W.O Legg.  There are handwritten notes in the book from the early 1940's. There is a family story that he had a few mental problems whilst flying back from somewhere and he ended up in a mental institute, someone seems to thing he was always flying the dead home! enough to send anyone off the end really! There are a few pages missing from the centre of the book and again family seem to recall that he took the book into the hospital with him and they doctors/nurses may have ripped out some pages because of what he ahd written in it! Anyhow we would love to find out who is was and what he did, but dont really know where to start....any help would be grateful
Regards Yvonne
