My time is my own to decide on what slips   :D

You mentioned the full name John MADDISON Bristow.

Ann Elizabeth MANN is the probable spouse shown for his marriage, and on the 1861 CENSUS I showed you, she is the married daughter of William & Susanna Mann, with her husband Jno Bristow shown as Son in Law - with a few kids including your ANN, c1853/4.

I think that proves that the John B Reading marrige is correct.

Simples !

ADDED: and so does that 1871 census (indexed as BEESTON on Ancestry) - its the only BRISTOW family with a dau Ann E of the right age - the same age as shown in 1881 onward with John B Reading .....

I've now got visions of you sat there doing an impression of a Meercat  lol

All I've got to do now, is convince my cousin John that I'm right and he's wrong about Ann Elizabeth marrying Mr READING and NOT Mr BARNES!  No easy task!!!!

Thanks again 'Sergie' (The Meercat)

It is a bit of a slow process, but the Norfolk parish records are browsable on family search.
This should get you straight to the parishes.

so have either of you found Mr & Mrs Meercat Barnes on a later census to ascertain Mrs B's age and PoB?

Thank you very much for this LINK - it's very helpful, though the year I was looking for is the one that's not there!!! - Typical!  I didn't know Familysearch did this, as I'd love to know how it works so I can see if they do the Manchester area as well.  How would I find out??  Yes, you're right it is a slow process, but I have found something worth having, so it's worth the 'slowness' of playing with it.

Regards
Hazel

Hi - I did have a quick look yesterday in the 1881 census, but couldn't find anything relating to this couple - I'll try and do a more extensive search today.

The list of browsable records at family search is limited at the moment, but growing all the time.
Only the ones with 'Browse Images' are available.
