Gilchrist family willington quay
« on: Wednesday 22 February 12 12:59 GMT (UK) »
Hi I'm trying to find the names and dates of my great grand parents who lived at Willington, Wallsend around  the 1911 census
Alas, all I have to go on is that my grandmother named Isobella Gilchrist (Ella), who may have been around 5 yrs old at that time, had  siblings named: Matilda (Lilly), Elizabeth (Lizzie), George,Harry,Edwin Anthony and maybe a Robert.

Isobella married William Hewitt Errington (I believe on Christmas day) they had a son Ronald Errington and daughter Joan Errington

Is there any kind soul out there who could help me fill in these gaps please?

regards sainted

Hi sainted and Welcome to Rootschat  ;)
I'm afraid we're not permitted to post 1911 census details on this list, due to copyright restrictions.
Have you checked the free index on www.familysearch.org?

Bearing in mind the names you've quoted for your grandmother's siblings, how about this family from the 1901 census:

RG13; Piece: 4797; Folio: 30; Page: 52
Willington Terrace, Willington

Robert Gilchrist, 34, Copper Smith at Engine Works, b. Newcastle on Tyne
wife Isabella, 32, b. Newcastle on Tyne
Matilda, 12, b. NoT
Edwin, 11, b. NoT
Elizabeth, 9, b. Willington
Isaac, 8, b. Willington
Robert, 4, b. Willington
Henry, 3, b. Willington
Anthony, 10m, b. Willington
Visitor Mary A Crofton, widow, 66, b. NoT

And, bearing in mind the visitor's name, how about this marriage?

Robert Gilchrist/Isabella Crofton - Apr-Jun 1888 NoT

That should get you going!

Sainted,

I think you have to post one more time to use the message system.  Just reply to this one and you'll be good to go.

Thanks for the reminder.
I'm still battling with the Mary Ann Crofton info although I think I may have found the link with husband Isaac and sons Robert and Joseph, ned to cross reference these perhaps?

Hi, I have sent you a pm, my grandfather was Robert Gilchrist and his parents were Robert Gilchrist and Isabella Crofton. My dad mentions uncle Anthony (they called him Uncle Anty!) and Edwin and Isaac, Isabella....my grandfathers siblings. Mary Ann Crofton was Isabellas mum and I actually have a photo of Isabella, he brothers and fathers.... Please get in touch, it would be great to hear from you. Lisa Gilchrist.
