John Thomas O'Leary born 1877
« on: Wednesday 22 February 12 19:57 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find out more about the O'Leary branch of my family in Ireland. John O'Leary born in Ireland married Rosina Taylor on the Isle of Wight in 1873 and all of their children were born in England except John Thomas who is listed in the Ireland Births and Baptisms 1620-1911 as being born 18th March 1877 in Kildare to a father John Oleary and a mother Rose Anna Oleary Taylor. In the England 1891 census John Thomas' place of birth is Naas Ireland.

I am hoping someone can help with further information about John Thomas and why he was born in Ireland.

Does this suggest his father John came from Kildare? In the England 1891 census John's place of birth is Cork in 1838 but his birth date is not very consistent. It varies on different documents from 1836 to 1843.

What's John snr's occupation - was he in the Army by any chance ?

A birth cert for John Thomas should show his father's occupation at the time....

I haven't got the actual birth cert. The information came from Ancestry but I know from John snr's marriage cert he was in the army.

There were several Army Barracks in Naas registration district - Naas town, Newbridge and the Curragh, so I presume John snr was posted in one of these.
