Property deeds -- Upchurch 18th century
« on: Wednesday 22 February 12 22:40 GMT (UK) »
A Captain John Harvey left property in Upchurch ''about six acres" -- to his sister Mary Pierce, in his will, proved 1747.   I think she was probably living there, as a burial entry for her husband George appears in the St. Mary's register in 1729 (as George Peers).

I have land tax assessments from 1818, showing property still held by someone named Pierce -- presumably Mary Pierce's grandson, John Harvey Pierce, who mentioned it in his will of 1818.

Anyway,  since I am generally at a brick wall with respect to the parents of John Harvey and his sister Mary, I'm interested in learning what I can from property transfers.   Is there a way to find out how Capt. John Harvey acquired this property?  That is, is there somewhere a collection of land title information for Upchurch, even if not indexed?  It is unclear to me whether Capt. Harvey bought this property himself, or whether he inherited it, e.g.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
