Grimshaw Buildings N Hylton

 On the 1911 census ,I have found my great grandparents living at Grimshaw Buildings North Hylton Has anyone any info as I can't find it on any map.

Hi Shelagh,
If you go to http://www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html?coords=435077,557090  and select the 1896 1:2500 map it will center the map about where Grimshaw Buildings were, opposite where it has 215 on the map. They were after Cress House in the 1911 summary book. You can zoom in. They will not be named on any map.

William Grimshaw & Sons owned the cement works at North Hylton, which is why they are called Grimshaw's Buildings, and were probably for the workers at the cement works. The Grimshaw family were owners of several commercial and industrial concerns in Sunderland, as tea, coffee and porter dealers, candle makers, cement makers, silver-platers, and carriage builders.
