Mills' in Surrey
« on: Thursday 23 February 12 19:07 GMT (UK) »
Hi Guys I need help!!!  :'(

In the 1851 census my ggg grandfather William Mills was shown as age 46 born in Dunsford Surrey.  His wife Eliza was born in Bramley and the children all born in Goldaming.

Living in Leicester I can only assume that these places are all within Surrey boundaries but I cannot find them in an earlier censuses, marriages etc.,

Do any of you super sleuths have any ideas where to look next?

William appears with his family in Godalming in the 1841 census and is listed as William Miles.  There is no William Mills baptised in Dunsfold, but there is a William Miles bapt 10 Jun 1804 son of Henry and Elizabeth.  However, a William Miles 'infant' was buried there in 1807.

Hi Brian and fellow searchers  ;D

After Brian's help I have been continuing my search and have found a Henry Miles and Elizabeth Fibbens who married in Dunsford on 17th Jan 1799.

Would I be right in saying I should now be following the Miles line back as opposed to the Mills'???  I'm so confused!
