Amos Horsman burial - where ?
« on: Friday 24 February 12 12:47 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help to identify the burial place of Amos Horsman / Horseman; who was born in 1782 at Fishlick.   He was discharged from the army in 1808, and Ive not found him since.
His father (another Amos) was buried at York St Denys in 1794 (aged 50)
Also has anyone seen the burial & baptism of his grandfather Amos who was born c. 1719.

Thanks

Heathers

The IGI has two, the second one died in 1818 at age 0 so probably not him but this one could be a contender

Amas Horsman burial date: 16 Dec 1849
burial place: Bradford, York, England
batch I04513-6

Thanks for that - but  unfortunately its not the one I'm looking for.
The actual PR shows the name as Cemas, which seems to have been mistranscribed by the LDS.  In reality his name was Arsenias - but I suppose regional accents and deaf vicars may have something to do with it.

Hi Heathers...what a sticky one :o...I have tried all variables without success...but I did find this:

Margarett Nornman
Birth 30th Oct. 1777
Bap. 31 Oct. 1777
Christening Place..Fishlake..Yorks.
Father...Amos Nornman
Mother...Arabella

Same Parents and Christening place as your  Amos Junior!

Coincidence...or Mistranscription?

That is certainally the family I am looking at.  the added complication is that Amos's mother appears in different places (baptisms of his siblings) as Arabella Taylor and Arabella Smith.

I saw that and wondered if she may have been married before?

Ive just got more details of some of Amos & Arabella's children's baptisms
I think it is Amos who married twice - first to Arabella Taylor (in Hull)  and then to Arabella Smith.

Can anyone find a suitable second marriage between 1777 and 1782 ? or the death of the first Arabella (maybe badly transcribed as Isabella)
