I am trying to search for my uncle's parents  Griff Jones born 24 July 1916 (I think) he was also known as Niffy Jones. 

His father must have died  because his mother remarried an OSLAND his step brother was known as Billy OSLAND.

Griff married Amelia M Jones  March 1936 in Glamorgan

It is best to purchase the 1936 marriage certificate to be certain that you are tracing the correct family. This should give you more information, such as Father's name and occupationm and possibly an address.

If you are correct about the dob there is only 1 possibility on freebmd:

Griffith Jones with Mother's maiden name Jacob in 1916 (Sep quarter)
Pontypridd volume 11a page 1036

The birth certificate would provide more information, however there is a possible marriage in 1915 (Dec quarter):

Griffith Jones and Elizabeth G Jacob
Pontypridd volume 11a page 1333

Many thanks for your reply. I have just found out  that my uncle Griff's real name was Nephi, however he hated the name and changed it to Griffith.  Also I was given the wrong birth date, it should have been 24 July 1916 and reg in June Quarter. Merthyr tydfil

I think you may have Nephi(Griffith)'s birth date wrong.

If his birth was registerd in Jun qtr he couldn't have been born in July!!!!!!
