Help with Headstone Names
« on: Sunday 26 February 12 16:45 GMT (UK) »
I have got some fantastic help from this board in the past. I have been dwelling over a headstone for ages and just realised today that maybe someone here might be able to help. In this plot in Calvery Cemetery, NY there are names on a headstone that don't mean anything to me at this moment. I am wondering if someone could find an obituary or two which may then show the relationship to my "Dunn" ancestors. I have searched google but didn't get any hits.

Here are the names (All of these people for interred in the same plot with my Dunn's!)-
Robert L. Ward M.D. 1910 -
His wife, Helen Stopford Ward M.D. 1915 -
John Matthias Ward 1955 - 1971
Maureen Anne Ward 1954 - 1977
Mary Ward Kennedy died 1964 aged 70
Joseph A. Kennedy Sr. died 1976 aged 83
Joseph A. Kennedy Jr. died 1984 aged 65

Social Security Death index has a Robert L. Ward born 19 Jan. 1910 and died 22 Sep. 1992.  Last residence, including zip code, was same as Helen Ward's above.

I found an obituary in the NY Times for that Robert, and he was the husband of Helen Claire Stopford, M.D.  It says he was interred in Calvary Cemetery.  The obituary mentions his children, their spouses, and his grandchildren, but nothing about his parents or siblings.

Yes, this is definitely the same family, thanks. I also found the obit of the wife. Still doesn't explain any connection though! Hmmm
