Olive Pearson marriage to John Jackson Clent 1833
« on: Monday 27 February 12 12:48 GMT (UK) »
Thought I posted this last night but it seems to have disappeared, so sorry if I'm wrong and it appears twice.

Wondering if anyone has access to this marriage record. If so I'd be grateful to know the name of Olive's father or any other details.  :)

Hiya

You confused me a bit there as it should really be the Worcestershire board

Olive Pearson married John Jackson 8.12.1833 Clent Worcestershire - early marriages are unlikely to name parents

As we dont know whether Olive was a spinster or widow, as Willow quite rightly says parents are not given on pre 1837 marriages, but witnesses names can often be helpful

From the IGI  extracted record ..... a long shot I know

Olive Pearson ch. 28.6.1813    Park Lane Presbyterian, Cradley, Worcester, England

Parents James Pearson and Sarah

Thanks Parish

I wondered about that one as well. Olive is down as born in 1816 in the 1841 census so with rounding up/down that fits and Clent is not far from Cradley. She had died by 1851, pretty positive she wasn't a widow - but can't be certain.

Tried to find James and Sarah in the censuses to see if that gave any hints, but wasn't at all sure I'd found them. My lack of knowledge of the area doesn't help.

Could Ann be a second wife?

I have some more information on James and Ann from the Cradley Vicar's Notes of 1857 (he did his own mini Census on his Parishioners, the original notes were in Greek and were transcribed by two Cradley Historians)

Park Lane Cradley, (which is very near to Park Lane Chapel)  James Pearson, works on the Roads, attends the New Connextion Chapel, has taken the Sacrament.  Ann attends the same Chapel and has taken the Sacrament, Son Ambrose 25 Iron Worker attends Park Lane Chapel, William 19 Chainmaker attends Church, (would presume that is the C of E Church.)

There may have been more children, just Ambrose and William at home in 1857.  HTH Linell.

Just a thought, Ann could be Sarah Ann, known as Ann.

Found a bit more, again from the Vicar's Notes, these were recorded in 1863.  Still living in Park Lane, James is now 81, still attends the New Connexion Methodist Chapel, the notes say he was the father of - James who is Married to a Sarah, children Luke Cox 20, Daniel Cox 17, Mercy Pearson 13, Maria Pearson 12, Eliza Pearson 9, James Pearson 6, Thomas Pearson 4, Samuel Pearson 1.  Other son of James and Ann is Joseph Pearson with wife Louisa, William 21, Albert 19 Dumb, Eliza 11, Joshua 6.  Also son Thomas with wife Martha, Ambrose 15, Mercy 10, Elizabeth 9, Barnabas 7, William 5, and George 3.

Returning to James aged 81 and wife Ann, son Ambrose now 31 Works at Evers Forge Cradley a Unitarian (which was Park Lane Chapel) and is committing adultery with someone, and William 24 Chainmaker is a heavy drinker.

If you think this is your family there are some more notes, mainly what they did and where they Worshipped.  HTH Linell.
