Mayflower Descendants

I have some notes and copies of a document submitted to be recognized as a registered descendant of William White from the Mayflower. How or where would I begin researching if in fact it was recognized? I am an ancestry.com member but I consider myself extremely entry level and would prefer to not chase any tails
