Samuel Shep MILLER
« on: Tuesday 28 February 12 22:38 GMT (UK) »
Please can anyone help.

I am trying to trace Samuel Shep MILLER, who was born in or around Leeds, in I believe 1895.  I believe Samuel could have served in WW1.  Samuel later went to Buffalo, New York, where he married Bessie Ruth (not sure of maiden name).  They had a son, Seymour, born around 1940 and a daughter, both born in N.Y.

Samuel's parents were Rose and Jacob (Jewish and could have been born in Poland).

Please can you help at all ?

I have looked on the passenger lists for a Samuel Miller leaving the uk for US but the name is just too common to pinpoint which one could be the correct one.

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Researched for a Jacob and Rose Miller on 1891 census in Newcastle but found a Jacob but not married to a Rose.   Also tried 1901 and again found nothing.  Are you sure the Samuel you are looking for did have parents named Jacob and Rose

There is only one marriage of a Jacob Miller to a possible Rose (of Two ladies in the List of possible wife's) 1940 ish London in the whole GRO index since 1837

Nothing is make sence to the request info given by you! ???  in UK records- would advice re-checking with your sources as must be family records (private Family bible or similar handed down info)  not public census, GRO BMD. Parish registers or nonconformist registers

Thank you most kindly for all your help.

I'm absolutely sure of the names of the parents, although I believe Samuel actually actually met and married Bessie Ruth in New York state (Buffalo I believe).  There's a family picture of him in uniform, so I guess it would possibly have been after the 1914-1918 war.

I'm going to try to scrape up some more details, if at all possible and then come back to you.

Again, my sincere thanks.
